I began with photographs taken from the window
of my car during a trip through the western United States: photos mainly
from the edge of town, neither city nor National Park. In my studio, I
cast cement panels the size of postcards and printed the photos on the panels
with a gel photo emulsion. The goal was a kind of visual deceleration.
